After living with violence for perhaps their child's entire life, mothers can finally bond freely with their children in an atmosphere of safety and love, rather than fear and survival. Shelter counsellors know one of the best ways to help women and children heal from their experiences of violence is a day of peace.

If it is safe to leave the shelter, counsellors take families on outings and coach parents on how to support their child whose behaciour may be altered form their experience with family violence.
